Ouch. I've never been sore there before

Wow. I was surprised when I didnt have any soreness yesterday after Monday's strength training. Right afterwards on Monday I was a little sore, but that was gone when I awoke Tuesday morning. It had been so long since I did any strength training I forgot it takes about a day and a half for the soreness to rear its ugly head.

I woke up this morning and was like ouch and it took me a little longer to get out of bed. I am sore in areas I have never been sore. Definitely worked well.

Last night was supposed to be abs, but I didnt have a chance because we went to LifetTime Fitness and decided that we will be switching over from LA Fitness. It is a little bit more a month, but they have so many great features. The best part is that they have cycling and running clubs with group rides/runs several times a week.

Tonight will be my second strength training session. I will be using the Strength Training for Cycling article from NSCA.

I've been enjoying the strength training (not so much the yoga). It's not as good as running, but better than nothing. And, the core exercises definitely help my back feel better at work and on the bike. Hope your soreness is short-lived.

You could always try the core workout I did at work yesterday. Moving 100s of boxes of files. Very taxing and definitely worked (hurt) the back.

It is pretty cool that LifeTime has cycling and running clubs. Moe options are always better.

Making the switch to LA Fitness sounds like a good choice and worth the extra money. Looking forward to hearing more about the group runs/rides. that will be fun.

Oh man, Kevin... I totally feel your pain and I truly mean that. I decided to ramp up my strength training as well (considering I didn't do squat over the last 4 months) and I've been so sore all week... after only 2 sessions! Argh!

Quick update- You mentioned possibly registering for MiamiMan in '09. Just an FYI, I received an e-mail update yesterday from Multirace and 10% of the slots for '09 are already sold. I know that the event sold out in early May last year and I'm expecting an April sell out this year. It keeps getting more and more popular b/c the course is so nice.

You should REALLY consider it as an end-of-season race next year. I think you would really enjoy it. :o)

If you are sore like that, you must have done the weight training right. One more day and you should feel much better. Good job!

Last year I saw one of my friends limping about 2 weeks after racing an Ironman and I asked him "are you still sore from IM?" His response was, "I wasn't this sore after the IM, but I can barely walk after my first yoga session."

HA!

I'll stick with swimming, biking, and running!

Strength training is funny like that. The soreness is delayed! But then it goes aways when you are consistent again.
